What is precognition?
I’m giving away a signed copy of Back to Salem. To win go to my Facebook page and answer the one question - Have you ever had a precognitive experience, if so what was it? The person with the most interesting answer prevails (i.e. the person with the most “likes”). Nothing comes to mind? Just make it up.
Precognition (or premonition) is the ability to psychically tune into the future. For example, in Back to Salem, Jessie unknowingly tunes into events in her future and writes about them in her novel. Then years later her life starts to dangerously mimics the plot of her novel … including murder.
I believe writers often write about events and then they show up in their life. Do you have something to share?
Precognition storyOn the night of September 10, 2001, when I was tucking my son in bed, something seemed amiss with him. After my bedtime ritual with him, which included reading and prayers, he asked, “Mom, how will they pick which people to fight in the war?”
At the time I couldn’t fathom where the seven-year old had come up with such a question. Of course, I assured him we weren’t at war. But this didn’t satisfy him and he seemed to become more and more agitated that I wasn’t up on the news.
The next morning, I turned on the television just in time to watch a plane crash into the World Trade Center. My son’s voice, “Mom, how will they pick which people to fight in the war?” echoed in my head.
How my son had picked up on the fact we were heading to war before 9-11? I’m not sure. But it was obvious to me he had somehow tuned in to the future.
