One of the traditions in my home at Thanksgiving dinner, rather than saying “grace,” each person shares things they are grateful for. As I think about my gratitude list this year I noticed a shift. Certainly “family and friends” always seem to get top billing at my household, but there were a few surprises on my list and I wanted to share them.
As Thanksgiving approaches, we often get caught up in the demands the holiday brings, and the true meaning of Thanksgiving is frequently missed. Aside from the Pilgrim story and how Thanksgiving became a holiday, there is something deeper we can take away from this holiday, and that is the practice of gratitude.
Recently, a fourth century fragment written in Coptic was disclosed by a Harvard Divinity School professor and historian. Within the small piece of papyrus was the phrase, “Jesus said to them, ‘My wife ...’ ” As many debate the implications of “my wife,” I think there are other more intriguing theories to ponder, such as could Mary Magdalene not only have been the wife of Jesus but also “the disciple whom Jesus loved?”
What is synchronicity? Simply put, synchronicity is meaningful coincidence or a series of two or more occurrences that are logically meaningful to the person when it happens and may even seem a bit mysterious or unexplainable.
